Philosophy of Education-based Athletics
At the center of all school-based athletic programs should be a sound philosophy which addresses “WHY” our schools provide athletics as part of the educational process for all students. Over the years, the mission and purpose of providing sports within our schools has often become muddled; what was once an assured part of every American school culture has come under scrutiny and questioned on a variety of fronts.
At the very core of athletics reflecting the educational mission of each school district is a resolution to better educate and train all stakeholders on that purpose. This section contains ideas, statements and examples of sharing the educational mission of interscholastic athletics with our different audiences.
